Hi everyone đź‘‹

In a CPQ setup, is there a way to create quotes on behalf of another user, or to manually update the proposal/quote owner?

We have a use case where a client sometimes needs to generate quotes on behalf of sales reps, but the requirement is that the reps themselves remain the official “owners” of those quotes within the system.

Curious to hear if anyone has implemented a clean solution for this, whether through permissions, workflow rules, or a manual reassignment process.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

We have use cases where Deal Desk team help in creating/updating/submitting quotes on behalf of the sales rep.

The organization should maintain the Opportunity Owner in the CRM as the sales rep.

There is a setting in the Approval Workflow and Validations module, under Workflow Settings, which allows to run approval workflow on behalf of the opportunity owner, rather than the current users, to maintain the correct approval chain and permission set.

In the Dealroom we also have the Parameter “Opportunity.Owner” that can be insert, so widgets like the cover letter can be “signed” by the opportunity owner.

One limitation is in the Dealroom publish email. The email will include a reference to the quote publisher, so be mindful of that. In the accompanying email you can include a reference to the opportunity owner as well to create clarity with the buyer.Â
